new york yankees
The New York Yankees are without question the most heralded, successful and well-known (both loved and hated) sports franchise in North America as well as many other parts of the world. They boast 27 World Championships and an endless list of iconic players – Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle and more recently, Jeter.
The original Yankee Stadium opened in 1923 and witnessed most of these triumphs and superstars, with the new Yankee Stadium opening up in 2009, after the old one's deterioration as well as newer stadiums throughout the league leading the way in design and fan experience. The new stadium is more akin to a temple than a ballpark with the ‘Great Hall’ (featuring banners of all the great players who ever donned the Yankee pinstripes) and Monument Park (which is opened for visitors up to an hour before game time). There also isn't a bad seat in the house!
It is hard to not have a good experience at Yankee Stadium given the mystique and lore of this franchise, and the current crop of Yankees superstars, including Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole and Giancarlo Stanton will be striving for a 29th World Championship...

THINGS TO DO IN & AROUND NEW YORK CITY
The Big Apple has it all, from its awe-inspiring skyscrapers to world-class museums, shopping districts, sporting events, and historical sights.
Tour the artistic masterpieces at MoMa, take the ferry out to see the Statue of Liberty (the most iconic symbol of freedom in the U.S), book Broadway theatre tickets, or just wander the floor of iconic stores like Bloomingdales or Macy's. Take a walk through Central Park, ascend to the top of the Empire State Building, or pay your respects at the 9/11 memorial site. Even a month in this sprawling metropolis isn't enough!
Brooklyn has become a destination in its own right – full of restaurants, shops, museums, and parks to explore. Shop in the boutique shops of Williamsburg, take' 'instaworthy' snaps in DUMBO or behave like a kid again in Coney Island. There are a number of excellent bars and restaurants all over, and you can even take a tour of the iconic Brooklyn Brewery.
No baseball trip to the Big Apple is complete without a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. It is quite a drive from NYC but it is well worth the trip!
Only one per cent of all major league ballplayers are bestowed the sport’s highest honour with induction into the Hall of Fame. The Hall’s museum features more than 40,000 artefacts, including baseballs, bats and uniforms from players such as Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams and Willie Mays.
You can also check out the 'Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum', Doubleday Field and the Cooperstown Bat Company factory and store.
