kansas city royals
It may be the fourth-oldest ballpark in the American League, but unlike every other stadium built in the 1960s and 1970s, Kauffman Stadium - often referred to as 'The K', has remained one of the most picturesque ballparks in baseball.
The stadium was renovated in 2009 and, even better, hosts a team that a shown a resurgence over the past few years, bringing a new wave of enthusiasm across the city. The Royals made a trip to the World Series in 2014 before securing a World Series win in 2015 – their first championship since 1985. The stadium itself is filled with food and drink vendors, plus tickets to a game are on the more affordable side. Its most striking feature would be the beautiful fountains in the outfield. The stadium also includes a kids’ area known as “the Little K,” the Taste of KC, a right-field sports bar themed restaurant, and the Royals Hall of Fame in left field.

THINGS TO DO IN & AROUND KANSAS CITY
Kansas City Highlights
Kansas City, Missouri's largest city, is on the edge of the Great Plains - America's cattle raising and agricultural heartland, and this is reflected in massive events like the American Royal (held every September and October) which blends rodeos, horse riding competitions and the world's largest BBQ contest.
Speaking of BBQ cooking, Kansas City is the best place in America to dine on slow-cooked ribs and chicken dishes. The city is crammed full of superb BBQ eateries like Gates, Hayward's and LC's - so don't ruin your appetite with snacks during the day.
KC is the perfect city to combine a multi-sport trip, with the Chiefs battling in the NFL next door from Kauffman Stadium, at Arrowhead Stadium. There are also two NASCAR weekends every year at the Kansas Speedway.
Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) is the world’s only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African-American baseball and its impact on the social advancement of America.
This comprehensive museum covers the lesser-known history of African American teams, such as the KC Monarchs and New York Black Yankees, that flourished until baseball became fully integrated. It's part of the Museums at 18th & Vine complex along with the American Jazz Museum.
