New York Mets
For over a half-century the Mets have called New York City and the borough of Queens home, when they moved into Shea Stadium. It was a multi-purpose stadium that the Mets called home for 44 seasons, a stadium that fans both loved and hated. Throughout the mid-1990s and 2000s the Mets sought to have a new ballpark constructed as Shea Stadium lacked the modern amenities found in new ballparks, something which Citi Field certainly has in abundance.
The exterior and facade of Citi Field evokes memories of Ebbet's Field, the former home of the then Brooklyn Dodgers, with its red brick and limestone facade and arched entrances. The most striking feature at Citi Field is the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at the main entrance of the ballpark. The stadium's unique location in Flushing, extensive food offerings, and rabid fan base make visiting the park feel completely different from the experience across town at Yankee Stadium.
On the field, the Mets' woes have sadly continued for their loyal fanbase. Having last won the World Series in 1986, the team have only reached the Fall Classic twice since, losing to its crosstown rivals the Yankees in 2000 and more recently losing to the Kansas City Royals in 2015. However, they do have 2x Cy Young Award winner Jacob DeGrom on their books who is always putting on a clinic in the Big Apple!

THINGS TO DO IN & AROUND NEW YORK CITY
The Big Apple has it all, from its awe-inspiring skyscrapers to world-class museums, shopping districts, sporting events, and historical sights.
Tour the artistic masterpieces at MoMa, take the ferry out to see the Statue of Liberty (the most iconic symbol of freedom in the U.S), book Broadway theatre tickets, or just wander the floor of iconic stores like Bloomingdales or Macy's. Take a walk through Central Park, ascend to the top of the Empire State Building, or pay your respects at the 9/11 memorial site. Even a month in this sprawling metropolis isn't enough!
Brooklyn has become a destination in its own right – full of restaurants, shops, museums, and parks to explore. Shop in the boutique shops of Williamsburg, take' 'instaworthy' snaps in DUMBO or behave like a kid again in Coney Island. There are a number of excellent bars and restaurants all over, and you can even take a tour of the iconic Brooklyn Brewery.
No baseball trip to the Big Apple is complete without a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. It is quite a drive from NYC but it is well worth the trip!
Only one per cent of all major league ballplayers are bestowed the sport’s highest honour with induction into the Hall of Fame. The Hall’s museum features more than 40,000 artefacts, including baseballs, bats and uniforms from players such as Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams and Willie Mays.
You can also check out the 'Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum', Doubleday Field and the Cooperstown Bat Company factory and store.
