Houston Astros
Major League Baseball made its debut in the city of Houston in 1962 when the then Houston Colt .45s took the field. Since that time the team moved to the Astrodome, changed their name to the Astros, moved again to their current home of Minute Maid Park, and won a World Series in 2017.
The design of the ballpark was greatly influenced by the surrounding neighbourhood including the 1911 vintage Union Station that forms the ballpark’s main entrance in left field. A major tribute to its railyard days is a 19th Century locomotive which chugs its way along the 800 feet track whenever an Astros home run is hit.
Aside from its historical features, Minute Maid Park still comes with all the bells and whistles we've come to expect from a modern professional sports stadium: a retractable roof, luxury boxes and restaurants from local celebrity chefs.
Hall of Famers Nolan Ryan, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Randy Johnson, Joe Morgan and Don Sutton have all donned the Astros uniform over the years. In more recent years, the winning has come in bunches thanks to the like of José Altuve, Justin Verlander and Yordan Álvarez and they have done it all from the cosy confines of the 'Juice Box', one of the best ballparks in MLB.

THINGS TO DO IN & AROUND HOUSTON
Houston Highlights
The largest city in Texas and the fourth largest in the U.S.A. It may be a massive city, but on the ground, Houston is welcoming and down to earth.
Dine on Tex-Mex or BBQ dishes in the Historic District, head to Montrose to check out the bars and drain a few Texas Sipper cocktails, or tap along to roots rock and roll at McGonigel's Mucky Duck.
For shopping, head to the west of the city to the Galleria - one of the most impressive malls in America.
*Combine your stay in the city with a relaxing break on Galveston Island, 50 miles from Houston.*
NASA Space Center
Across the world, Houston is probably most famous for coordinating the Apollo missions to the moon. The Space Center is now open for visitors, with daily tours, talks from astronauts, immersive video games, and exhibits like actual space shuttles. If you love space, it’s a must-see.
